ProjectDog Training (PDT) has been operating since 2010 and specifically offers positive reinforcement dog training services for adult dogs and puppies in groups and in a one on one environment.
The business was born out of PDT founder, Janine wondering why most dog training organisations tried to fix dog problems by choking, striking, shouting and using other aggressive methods. “I thought of my time at school, I always did better when I knew there was a good reward at the end of it, not because of fear of getting a detention”. Why not offer an alternative logical solution that is currently hard to find she thought, PDT was then born.
Positive reinforcement is a training method among others which uses rewards and praise to train as opposed to harmful methods which use punishment and can end up worsening an existing problem behaviour or create a fearful dog who obeys in the hope of not getting hurt.
Our aim is to help owners learn about their dogs’ in order to better understand them and effectively train them; ultimately providing a win-win situation for both owner and dog.
The team at PDT believe that dogs welfare comes first and as a result we do not use or advocate popular equipment such as choke chains or prong collars. We aim to educate our clients and all dog owners on the dangers of these misleading and band-aid types of equipment. Our founding principle is and will always be:
Prevent and eliminate the problem - don’t just try to stop problems every time they occur.
